Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced using personalized games created through the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.

Comprehending BF6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four types of assignments, but where most merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms present in the game.

Several of these gated guns could shortly find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

Another Reddit user highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the near future, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

At the moment, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced player experience in future updates.
